Welcome to the Stonesfield village website

Stonesfield is an Oxfordshire village, on the edge of the Cotswolds. It's about 12 miles north west of Oxford and has the towns Witney, Woodstock and Charlbury close by. It is within easy reach of the M40 and is just a few miles away from railway stations (Charlbury or Hanborough) with direct train services to London.

Stonesfield is surrounded by very beautiful countryside, with the River Evenlode running close by. It is within a few miles of the Blenheim Palace estate. The housing in the village is very varied, with many old Cotswold stone properties alongside a number of late 20th century buildings.

At the centre of Stonesfield stands a 13th century church, St James the Great, whose bell tower is clearly visable above the surrounding buildings. There is also a Methodist chapel. The village has a thriving community and excellent facilities for its population of around 1500. There are shops including a post office, butcher and green grocer, hairdresser and general stores. There is a primary school and a pre-school. There are many clubs and societies that run in the village using the village hall, sport and social club and the St James Centre.
